| Star Fleet coming to DVD |
OK,
so we are a bit early about this, but it seems that Fabulous Films (www.fabulousfilms.co.uk)
have secured the rights to release
Star Fleet on DVD. The news we have
is that it will be out Autumn 2008.Just remember that this is the puppet show from the 80's with Shiro, Lamia, Commander Makara etc, and nothing to do with Star Trek. The show even has a star fan in the shape of Brian May from the band Queen. He even persuaded his Eddie Van Halen to make a Star Fleet cover of the theme tune with him. So look out on ebay for a copy. |

| Wizbit - New Series being Made |
After
hearing Paul Daniels had acquired the rights to Wizbit after all these
years, Jedi's Paradise was waiting for an announcement that the series
was going to be re-released on DVD. But instead we find out that a new
series of Wizbit is being made! Out are the live action actors and in are CGI actors. If you head to www.wizbit.tv you can have a Tour of Puzzleopolis and view the photo galleries of the new show (characters, buildings etc). So how excited are we at Jedi's Paradise? I think the words are cautious. When companies re-imaging shows, you have to understand that things will change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not. The video of Puzzleopolis looks outstanding, which seems to capture the nature of the show, but we're not sure about the look of Wooly or the Gatekeeper (who looks well rough). Also we would really like to hear how the voice actors sound too and how close they are to the originals. We believe that Paul will continue to voice his own character, but time will tell. When we hear anymore info, we will let you know. |

| Grange Hill cancelled |
|
After 30 years on TV, Grange Hill has been axed by the BBC. The 2008
series will be the last one shown. Grange Hill was created by Phil Redmond (who also created the soap Brookside) and first aired in 1978. Over the years it has courted controversy. Parents and teachers didn't like the grittiness of the show and especially some of the themes it covered, such as bullying, drugs, suicide, racism etc. One of the biggest storylines back in the 80's was the time when Grange Hill pupil Zammo started taking drugs. Gradually his life started to crumble on screen and it seemed no one could do anything to stop it. This storyline even spilled over into real life, with a high profile campaign by the Grange Hill staff & cast to 'Just say no' to drugs. They even recorded a song to further promote the campaign. Over the years Grange Hill lost its edge and thus a share of its audience. There had been plans by Phil Redmond to take Grange Hill back to its grittier days for its 30th Anniversary, but it seems that the BBC had other ideas. So RIP Grange Hill, we will miss you and remember fondly of the great characters you gave us in the past, like Tucker Jenkins, Trisha Yates, Zammo, Ro-land, Pogo Patterson(?) etc |
