Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds is an 80’s Children’s TV cartoon. It burst onto the scene and what a breath of fresh air this program was. It steered clear of cartoons that had a new story each week and instead opted to tell the ongoing story of a young dog named Dogtanian and his desire to become one of the King's trusted Muskehounds. The Story was based on the Book by Alexander Dumas - The Three Musketeers. A total of 26 episodes were made.   Story  Young Dogtanian is sent on a journey to Paris by his father for training by his friend Monsieur Treville.  On the way to Paris on his trusty horse, Sandy, Dogtanian is insulted by a passing rider (called by Dogtanian - the Black Moustache).  Later that day Dogtanian catches up with him and fights a duel.  The Black Moustache cheats and gets his squire and the innkeeper to knock him senseless.  They find a note on Dogtanian to Monsieur Treville (Captain of the Kings Guard) and the Black Moustache orders the Innkeeper to get rid of the body (of Dogtanian) and rides off into the Distance.   Luckily the Innkeeper does not kill Dogtanian and instead takes all of his money for the damage to his inn and keeps Sandy his horse until he can pay for the rest of the damage.  So poor Dogtanian walks towards Paris carrying Sandy's Saddle. On the way Dogtanian is splashed with mud by a passing coach (he is a lucky chap!) and chases it for another apology.  Inside he finds a beautiful girl called Juliet who he thinks is very beautiful.   Eventually Dogtanian makes it to Paris and gets in another fight and ends up bruised and battered.  He is found by Juliet, who lives in Paris, and takes him in and gives him shelter. Dogtanian hears that one of the Three Muskehounds (Porthos) is stealing from the poor.  Enraged about this, he joins a mob to find Porthos.   Athos and Aramis find out about this and try to clear his name.  It seems that Cardinal Richelieu is behind this and is trying to discredit the Kings Guard, by employing someone to impersonate Porthos.  They catch the imposter and clear his name, but just as he is about to tell them who employed him, he is shot dead by Widermere who is in charge of the Cardinals Guard.   Again Dogtanian gets in a fight, this time he is seen by Monsieur Treville, who finds out that he's the son of his friend - Dogtanian's Father.  He talks to Dogtanian and hands him a sword that Juliet asked him to give to Dogtanian. Dogtanian's luck gets worse and he upsets the Three Muskehounds and they challenge him to a duel.  He does so well and are impressed by him, so they become good friends.   Together they battle against the Cardinal and his men (who are trying to expose the Queen's friendship with the English Prime Minister).
